WhatsApp is a popular messaging app that initiates UPI-based payments method on its platform. To check your balance and receive and send money, you need to add your bank account on WhatsApp.
It is so easy to add a bank account; similarly, it is also easy to remove. So, see below how you can add and remove your bank account on WhatsApp Payment methods.
So, before proceeding, make sure your mobile number is linked to your bank account, which you use with WhatsApp. You can only add your bank accounts; no debit or credit card options are available.
In future, if you don’t want to keep your bank account longer on WhatsApp, you can easily remove it in a few steps. So, in this blog post, we have mentioned all the steps regarding WhatsApp payment.
How to Add a WhatsApp payment method?
Make sure you have used a bank account-linked mobile number with your WhatsApp Account. Otherwise, it will not work with UPI based payment system.
1: Open your WhatsApp app and tap on the top right options bar.
2: Select the Payments option to proceed.
3: Tap Add payment method on the next screen. Tap Continue.
4: You will get the bank list; Select a bank in which you have an account. Tap “Verify” to verify your mobile number. It will be verified in a few seconds.
5: You will see your bank and tap on Add and done.
That’s all; now you have to create UPI Pin for fund transfers and balance checks. But, if you are already a UPI user and have created a UPI pin, you don’t need it.

Set UPI PIN:
To create a UPI Pin for WhatsApp payment, you need to enter your debit card’s last six digits and expiry date. Tap on Confirm and create your UPI Pin on the next screen. Simple steps are given below:
- Tap Set UPI Pin.
- Enter your debit card’s last six digits and expiry date. Tap Confirm.
- You will get an OTP. Enter OTP and Tap Continue.
- Enter your UPI Pin and re-enter the same on the next screen. Tap Submit.
Your UPI PIN will be generated successfully.

How To Remove WhatsApp Payment Method?
This is also the same method that we mentioned above to link a bank account. The following are steps to remove a bank account from WhatsApp:
Step 1: Open your WhatsApp app and tap on the options bar at the top right.
Step 2: You will see the Payment option. Tap on Payment, and you will find your added bank account with WhatsApp.
Step 3: Select your bank account and tap on the option at the top right. You will get the remove payment method for deletion.
Step 4: Tap on Remove and your bank account will be removed from your WhatsApp Payment method.

A: You can send money through UPI ID, Phone number, and scan QR code. So, tap on the options bar at the top and select the payment option. Next, tap on Send payment and choose one of three payment options. Finally, enter your UPI Pin and tap on Send.
